Astronomy Night at SUNY Orange

It’s June! Summer Solstice is soon. Now in 2023, Astronomy Night is scheduled at SUNY Orange, Middletown campus. This exciting educational event is set for June 21 starting at 8:15pm. In case of inclement weather – rain or cloud cover dates: June 28 or 29.
Welcome Astronomical Summer!
The conjunction of Moon, Mars, and Venus
Come to Alumni Green in the center of the campus.
Bring your lawn chairs. View planets, the Moon and constellations.
Astronomy professor Tom Blon has planned a full program. Planet and Moon globes will be on display as well as a scale model of the conjunction. He will explain what solstice is.
As the sky darkens, constellations will be introduced as they appear.
Six astronomers besides Blon will be at telescopes which will point to different targets. They are…

Anthony Soricelli ~ Professor of Earth Science & Geology
Bill Polakowski ~ backyard astronomer; IT Specialist, Crestron DMC-E
