Creating a Wallflower Meadow Gardening Class
April 27 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange County is hosting their monthly gardening class. Join them on Saturday, April 27th beginning at 9:00, for ‘Creating a Wallflower Meadow’.
A wildflower meadow is a complex, interactive plant community made up of native flowers, grasses, and sedges. Not only are they a beautiful addition to any property, but they also provide important ecosystem services like infiltration and filtration of stormwater, nutrient recycling, and food for wildlife. It takes about three years to establish a wildflower meadow. Come learn how to establish a wildflower meadow in your yard — choosing a site, selecting plant species, planting, maintenance, long term expectations.
